BORDER AMALGAMATIONI would like to welcome you to the Border Amalgamation, one of the premier organisations for Racing Pigeons. My name is Jeanette Taylor and I am the Amal Secretary. Our President is Glen Bowers, and we are based in the North West of England.
The Amal is made up of three Federations, Oldham Federation, South East Lancashire Federation and North East Lancashire Federation. Last year our clubs sent nearly 70,000 pigeons, averaging 4,000 per race each Saturday.
Clubs who fly in each of these Feds are as follows:
Oldham Federation have 10 clubs:
Ashton, Dane Bank, Denton, Droylsden, Failsworth, Hartshead, Hollinwood, Oldham, Shaw andSunny Brow.
South East Lancs have 9 clubs:
Littleborough, Todmorden, Rochdale, Castleton, Spotland, Newhey/Milnrow, Whitworth, Heywood and Norden.
North East Lancs have 6 clubs:
Barnoldswick, Burnley, Colne, Cowling, Earby and Trawden.
We also fly with the Lancashire Combine for six races per year, four old bird channel races and two young bird races. Young birds usually have one channel race and one inland race.
The Amal is full of top flyers, some specialising in the channel races, and others preferring to race their birds inland.
Lots of excellent flyers did well again last year, including Tony & Simon Hughes, R & L Whitworth, Brandon & Culshaw to name but a few. This year to date has seen Oldham Federation produce the winner of the first three races with South East Lancs nipping at their heels.
A big thank you goes to our transporter Phil Brown who does an excellent job in transporting and looking after our pigeons every week, and to our Race Controller, who this year is David Pearson from the North East Lancs Fed.
Comments, articles, items for sale, photographs or anything you like can be included on this site (as long as it's clean) which is for the benefit of the Border Amal members.
